According to detectives, the thefts were carried out on numerous occasions beginning Sunday, Sept. 22, after Teron Butcher, 29, of Queens, a loss prevention agent at Bloomingdale’s, at 630 Old Country Road, manipulated cameras to allow two other men to remove merchandise undetected.
On Sept. 22, after altering the cameras, Butcher told fellow loss prevention agent, Kenneth John, 30, also of Queens, that the cameras were off, John and a second man (not yet apprehended) removed assorted merchandise, Nassau County Police said.
A thorough investigation revealed John and the unidentified man were responsible for multiple larcenies on multiple dates over the course of a year, police said.
The merchandise stolen is valued in excess of $260,000, police said.
Butcher was charged with three counts of burglary and two counts of grand larceny.
John three counts of burglary, grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
